DETAILS:
The speaker will be Dr. Abeer Al-Ghananeem. Dr Abeer will speak on "Islam: Religion of Peace and Moderation" Dr Bagby, originally scheduled to speak, was called out of town, and Dr. Abeer agreed to speak on the positive note Islam offers to violence.
Abeer Al-Ghananeem is an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky and Vice-President for Scientific Affairs at US World Meds, a Louisville based pharmaceutical company. She is also an adjunct faculty at Sullivan University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Al-Ghananeem is engaged in several innovative projects that connects science with global health and poverty.
Dr. Al-Ghananeem is a community activist in the areas of civic education, coalition building, media outreach, and civil and human rights protection. She has lectured on health care, interfaith, and diversity subjects. She has served in several local and national committees and organizations.
After the formal program, we will have our traditional pot-luck luncheon where we can continue our discussions over a meal. Please bring a dish, drinks, breads, or deserts. Bring an interested friend.
