DETAILS:
Join us as we gather to learn about and discuss healthcare reform. In particular, we will highlight the advantages of single payer healthcare.
The evening will begin with a panel consisting a physician, a business leader, a religious leader, and a labor leader. Each panelist will comment on how single payer healthcare reform will affect their constituencies. The panelists are:
-
Robin Reams, M.D. a Lexington-based radiologist/oncologist
-
Richard Dawahare, attorney & Kentucky business leader
-
Rev. Dr. Albert Pennybacker, retired Disciples of Christ minister & Associate Director of the National Council of Churches
-
Bill Londrigan, Executive Director, Kentucky AFL-CIO
Following the panel discussion, we will hear stories from ordinary Kentuckians who have been adversely affected by our current insurance-based healthcare system. We will hear about unaffordable insurance, inadequate insurance, denied insurance, and other situations where the insurance system blocks access to the healthcare Kentuckians need. Come share your story.
Bill Mahan, a board member of the Central Kentucky chapter of Kentuckians for Single Payer Health Care will moderate the panel and Kentuckians stories.
Join us. Help us make sure that the voices of over 200 million Americans who support Single Payer Healthcare (Medicare-like healthcare for all) are heard. We support HR 676, The National Health Insurance Act.
HR 676:
-
Saves billions - eliminates outrageous administrative costs, unnecessary duplication, and paperwork.
-
Eliminates profiteering in health care
-
Allows you to choose your physician
-
Covers you no matter what - even when you change or lose a job or retire
-
Is publicly funded. Like police or fire service - everyone is protected. Risks & costs are shared by all.
-
Will cost less. 95% of us will pay less - and at last, everyone will be covered !!
